WEST VILLAGE, MANHATTAN

Don Angie

A corner supper club where Italian-American classics come back sharper — book well ahead.

Don Angie is Italian-American cooking taken seriously rather than ironically. Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli — married chefs who named the place for their families — opened it in 2017 on a corner of Greenwich Avenue, earned a Michelin star in 2021, and built one of the most requested reservations in the country around dishes like the pinwheel lasagna for two, sliced into rosettes and browned at the edges.

The room is small, mirrored, and a little glossy, closer to a supper club than a red-sauce joint. The chrysanthemum salad and the stuffed garlic flatbread show the same instinct as the lasagna: familiar Italian-American ideas sharpened until they feel new. Plan ahead; this is not a walk-by table.

Editor’s tip

The pinwheel lasagna is built for two — come as a pair and plan the rest of the order around it.
